Pomegranate Health Benefits - Do You Believe The Benefits Associated With The Pomegranate Fruit?

Pomegranate health benefits seem to have taken the medical industry by storm. If what you read online can be believed them I think that everyone should be drinking this fruit juice right away. The medical profession has come out and called the fruit a super fruit but I don't really know why. Yes the pomegranate fruit has shown some progress towards health in some areas but from what I can see the results haven't been deemed conclusive.
I only tasted the fruit recently as I had never before seen the fruit in any supermarket. I can say that I loved the taste of the fruit and the pomegranate seeds inside where delicious but it can be tricky to open. So what are the reasons that the medical researchers are proclaiming the fruit as a super fruit. Here is some of the associated health benefits that I can find:
1. The main benefit that I can see is the levels of antioxidants contained in the fruit. We all know that antioxidants in the body are needed to fight against free radicals. The pomegranate fruit has shown to have 3 times more antioxidants than blueberries, cranberries or green tea.
2. Some results have shown that the fruit can help to lower high blood pressure. Some other results have shown that it can help to lower the levels of bad LDL cholesterol in the body. If this turns out to be true then this will effectively lower your chances of having heart disease.
3. It has been claimed that the fruit can help lower you chances of getting some cancers. Breast cancer and prostate cancer being the ones that have been named.
4. It has been claimed that taking the fruit on a regular basis can help with erectile dysfunction.
5. It has been said that the fruit can help to keep your skin looking young and smooth.
6. It is good for expecting mothers because the fruit has folic acid, potassium and vitamins A,E and C.
I would really love to know if all these pomegranate health benefits are real and to what degree. From what I have been reading in magazines and online none of the results are fully conclusive. But for the medical industry to name the pomegranate fruit as a super fruit then there must be some truth to the claims. Whatever your own view point is on the fruit you cannot deny the fact that it does taste good and the seeds from the fruit are great for using in salads.
